EduBijak Privacy Policy

EduBijak is a student-facing mobile educational application operated by Distinctive Education Advisor Sdn Bhd (“EduAdvisor”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). 

Available in Malaysia only, we are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly, in accordance with applicable data protection laws in Malaysia.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the EduBijak mobile application (“App”).

1. Information We Collect

We collect only information that is necessary to operate the App and provide educational features.

  • Account and Profile Data: When you register or use the App, we may collect name, email address, phone number, school name, year of study, and exam type (e.g. SPM, IGCSE). Account registration is required to use the App. Guest usage is not supported.
  • Social Login Data: If you sign in via Google, Apple, Facebook, or your Ministry of Education (MOE) Email, we receive basic profile info (name/email) from these providers to create your account.
  • Academic Activity: To support learning progress and app improvement, we may collect questions answered and the answers you selected. 
  • Usage Data: Technical info such as device type and OS system. We do not track your GPS location.

2. Information We DO NOT Collect

To ensure a safe and focused learning environment, EduBijak does not collect:

  • No Location Tracking: We do not track your GPS or precise location.
  • No Uploads: We do not access your camera roll or collect any uploaded files/images.
  • No Financial Data: The App is completely free. We do not collect payment, billing, or subscription information.
  • No Third-Party Ad Tracking: We do not use advertising identifiers to track your behaviour across other apps or websites for third-party advertising.

3. Login Methods

You may login using either:

  • Email and password, or
  • Social login providers, such as Google, Apple, Facebook, or your Ministry of Education (MOE) Email. Authentication data is handled securely through these providers.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Personalise learning content and chatbot interactions
  • Track learning progress and usage trends
  • Send important app-related notifications
  • Improve app performance, features, and user experience
  • Respond to support requests

We do not sell or rent your personal data.

5. Push Notifications

We may send push notifications to share learning reminders, provide app updates, or deliver educational or information messages. 

You can manage your notification preferences through your device settings.

6. Chatbots and AI Services

EduBijak includes chatbot features that may use third-party AI services (e.g. OpenAI APIs) to generate educational responses. Our AI integration is designed to be "privacy-first".

When you answer a question, the App sends the correct answer explanation to the AI to make the feedback more engaging. 

No personal identifiable information (name, email, or ID) is sent to OpenAI. The AI only sees the academic content provided by EduAdvisor.

7. Third-Party Services

We may use trusted third-party services to support app functionality, including:

  • Google Analytics (for usage and performance insights)
  • Apple App Store and Google Play Store (for app distribution and updates)
  • Push notification services

These providers process data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

8. Sponsored Messages and Recommendations

EduBijak may include informational or promotional messages, either internally from EduAdvisor or our partners (e.g. universities) in between study questions. 

If you express interest in a specific institution (e.g. clicking “I’m interested” when we ask if you are interested in hearing from an institution), we will share your contact details with that specific partner so they can reach out to you. We only share your data when you explicitly opt in. We do not sell or rent your personal data.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to:

  • Provide the App’s services, or
  • Comply with legal or regulatory obligations.

10. Account Deletion and Data Removal

You may request to delete your account and all associated personal data at any time. 

To do so, you can:

  • Use the “Delete Account” button in the “Account” section of the App, or
  • Email us at edubijak.support@eduadvisor.my with the subject line “Data Deletion Request”.

Once we have received your request, we will delete your account and permanently remove your personal data (e.g. name, email, academic history) from our active databases within 30 days, unless retention is required by law.

11. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss or misuse.

12. Relationship with EduAdvisor

EduBijak is a product of EduAdvisor.

Where relevant, this Privacy Policy should be read together with EduAdvisor’s main Privacy Statement, available on the EduAdvisor website.
